The Kitchen

The Kitchen statement:

We all live in tightly sealed boxes where the elements within remain concealed to everyone. Boxes we won’t allow anyone to enter, their secrets forever sealed with wax.

The kitchen is the heart of every home, a space that brings families together, often associated with the warmth of a mother and children. Upon entering the box, we find ourselves in a kitchen facing a video projector displaying a video of a man inside a laundry machine. The solitary presence of a man, entangled in self-reflection on the kitchen floor, filled with clutter and a sense of regret, bears witness to a recent altercation and violence.

The excessive heat within the confined space makes it unbearable, and the viewer can hardly endure more than a few short minutes inside the box. All elements in the space synchronize the viewer’s mind with the man on the kitchen floor, everything in this moment is overwhelmingly intolerable, for both the viewer and the man on the kitchen floor …
